A New Durmstrang Institute
Staff

When Voldermort fell many of the student’s at Durmstrang were beaten to death, because they were supporting Voldermort. For 20 years Durmstrang was in ruin, losing a student almost every week due to parents withdrawing their sons, teachers started leaving and Durmstrang fell into a state of almost disrepair.
But 7 years ago Viktor Krum arrived and took over as Headmaster, after witnessing Hogwarts during the Tri-Wizard Tournament, he felt that significant changes had to be made to the school, in order to attract the students back, improve results and make the school more diverse but keeping in traditions.
He made the school mixed and repaired the castle, he made it less strict and made it more international, they now allow muggle-borns, introduced Muggle Studies into the curriculum and are no longer the school everyone fears.
But recently he has become aware that there has been activity of the dark-arts among his school, a significant number of the students support the idea’s of the late-dark lord calling themselves Vojna Iskatelja, however in spite of this he has asked a group of students to form a counter group, named Mir Sozdatelja to defeat them.
Who will win, the war is immanent…

Thinking, relaxing, learning. « Thread Started on Dec 16, 2007, 3:39am »
Sergei strode in to the Callidus common room. His eyes flicked from one corner of the room to the next, taking a quick survey of the place. It looked more like a study than a common room, as uncounted piles of books lay neatly stacked throughout the room. Couches were put here and there, to provide an ideal place to learn and relax at the same time. A stack of parchment lay on one table to provide students with paper to do homework, if they needed it.
Sergei sat down on a couch and opened a book. It was a book on transfiguration. Scribbled on the pages were polymorph spells, notes explaining the Midas touch, and other notes of alchemic nature. Sergei found nothing of interest in it, so he closed it and put it down. He decided to find something more interesting.
He found a book on runic magic. A the sight, Sergei smiled. This was his strongsuit, his best subject. He took some parchment and a quill, and began taking notes as to which rune was used for what.
When he was finished, he took out his wand and a rune from a pouch on his waist. Putting the rune in front of him, he concentrated, clearing distracting thoughts from his mind. Leveling his wand in line with the rune, he sharply spoke a word of command.
"BALSUFUS!"
The result didn't go as expected. When he spoke the word, the rune sparked for a moment, then burst into pieces. The remains were little more than smoking shards, now. Sergei sighed. He couldn't get it right all the time, he knew. Mistakes had to be made at one time or another. What the rune was supposed to do was surround itself with brilliant light, acting as a small light source ideal for desk use at night.

Markov had only just entered the callidus commonroom, when he saw Sergei just about to cast a spell on a rune. He took a seat on another couch, deliberately so he could watch him try and attemp the spell. As he had guessed, the spell did not work, it was a very difficult charm. Markov wondered up to him, markov was a bit of a smart-a*se and knew all to well, that his noseyness often made people annoyed.
"You could always just perform the lumos charm, far simpler for a wizard you age, that kind of magic if fith year stuff, i'd be amzed if you could do it," he said
He took a seat next to sergei, and waited for his reply,
"Or i could just tell you where you went wrong, your choice," he surgested to sergei. Markov had noticed his mistake, a simple one that made all the difference, he hadn't been holding the wand at a 90ª angle, t had been pointing slightly upwards.

Just as he was about to mutter another spell, another student sat down beside him.
"You could always just perform the lumos charm, far simpler for a wizard you age, that kind of magic if fith year stuff, i'd be amzed if you could do it," he said.
"Or I could just tell you where you went wrong, your choice," he shrugged.
Sergei tilted his head curiously.
"I guess you could do both. That way, I'll do twice as better." he replied.
He took out another rune and set up to try again, this time pointing his wand at a different angle.
"LUMOS," he cried.
The rune lit up instantly. It looked more like sunlight reflecting off an ingot of gold rather than a glowing rune. Sergei turned to the other student smugly, a victorious smile on his face.
"Like that?" he asked casually.
